While having no power is out of anyone’s control, failing to notify me that the property had been out of power for several days until the day of check in, after I had already traveled to Carmel, is unacceptable. I spent another three hours driving home in the pouring rain and over an hour on the phone with hotels.com to get a refund. This could have been avoided with better communication.

This is a very charming hotel in the heart of beautiful Carmel by the Sea. A wonderful experience with a fantastic dinner. The staff was very accommodating.

We liked the property, the staff and service were great. Did not care for how thin the walls are - we could hear the people above us stomping around and our room was on the street - lots of early morning street noise.

They think of everything. You check in and they take your bags, park your car and that’s all you have to think about until you fill in your breakfast order that night. Lovely courtyard dining and a 2 Michelin star restaurant on site. It was a lovely break we sorely needed.

Amazing room/service, hotel is OLD = noisy!

I stayed in anamaizngqueen room with a beautiful bath tub. I read reviews about this hotel being loud, but I was not prepared to be woken up at 5:30 with constant noise from the stairs and doors opening and closing. I was on the ground/countyard ... maybe a higher room would be quieter. Also, no AC. I also had to wait about 10 minutes to be served by the bartender for a glass of wine - after seeking out someone to help me. All that being said, I would stay again.

Lovely location and sweet courtyard. Room was clean and comfortable though there was a leaking tub faucet. I was extremely disappointed with the level of noise that woke me up on vacation at 7:30am (or so)....lawn mowing or blowing, garbage pickup, etc. Is there no town noise ordinance near a luxury hotel?
