Walking distance from the water.

We had a great experience at The Inn at La Jolla. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and accommodating with local recommendations. They have coffee every morning in the lobby. And the hotel is pretty centrally located. We only use the car once. Pretty much everything was within walking distance. Cute restaurants, and coffee shops. And you could walk to the water where the sea lions hang out. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Very old and decrepit room. Doors are old and chipped, toilet is beat up, bath tub paint is pealing, air conditioning did not work well. It was a wall unit. I asked for a better room as I was given the most room in a back corner. Very dark and small. I asked for a better room, but the staff refused to give me a better room or better location. When I was in line, several people were given upgrades, etc... I was told the hotel was sold out, yet I was early to check in, so there were other rooms available, but the staff did not want to give me a decent room. Overall, terrible experience.
