This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. The property is extremely old, and both the lobby and the room were in significant disrepair. The bed sagged and folded into the middle. Only one bedside light worked—and only after I located and plugged it in myself.
The bathroom was particularly unacceptable. The bath mat was torn, the drain plug was rusted and left sitting on the side of the tub, and no bath towels were provided at all. Paint was peeling from the window sills, and there were no blackout shades. When I attempted to hang clothes, the hangers broke—an indication of how worn and neglected the room was.
For a two-star hotel charging nearly $200 per night with tax, I expect at minimum a clean room and functional, up-to-date amenities. This hotel did not meet even basic standards. I will never stay at a Shilo property again.
