Stayed 2 nights March 7&8 2025 It is the cleanest hotel I have stayed in . The staff is very friendly and kind . The stairs to the 2 nd floor are quite steep . The walls are very thin . The planes at the near by airport do not fly all night so it is very tolerable. I would definitely stay again !

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. This was a great place for us to stay as a home base as we visited Monterey and the surronding area. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

El Castell was centrally located and perfectly priced. However, it was extremely loud at night. It might have been the particular guests staying in the hotel, or the surrounding area, but the hotel is older with minimal sound buffers.

Interior is far superior than a two star motel. It is better than some of the three star hotels. One complaint, we had paper bags on the floor that we wanted to use but the room service took it.
