Amazing the people are very friendly and it's also pet friendly. Just unable to leave pet's in room to go site seeing and do some shopping. It's near a busy street with lots of shopping and eating places.

We had a room that was just over the dryers in the basement and was very noisy so they changed us but down graded our room because they had no more rooms like ours. Was not happy but the room they moved us to was very quiet.

Don’t Recommend - Poor Sleep Experience

Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean. I had trouble locating the wing I was staying in, and a very helpful and courteous housekeeper walked way out of her way to help me get to the right spot. I booked three rooms together for me and my work colleagues for Thursday night through Saturday morning. I am NOT inclined to recommend this property, because as an upper tier property, I have customer service expectations that they did not meet. The main problem was that there was a muscle car event on Saturday morning - we got ZERO warning of this when checking in - and experienced 15 cars with extreme engine noise maneuvering into parking spots below our open windows for almost 2 hours beginning at 7am. It was incredibly noisy and loud even with the windows closed. We were quite disappointed, after 2 challenging days of work, to not get the rest we expected. I guess the check in clerk thought so little of an Expedia guest that they didn’t even bother to tell us of the special event, let alone offer to relocate us. When we return in the fall and spring, we’ll be staying at the Marriott instead.

I’m so glad I chose the Portola Hotel for my stay in Monterey. After going back and forth between several hotel options, this one ended up being the perfect choice—and I’ll definitely be staying here every time I come back! The location is incredibly convenient—right in the heart of Monterey, walking distance to everything I wanted to explore. Parking was a breeze, and I used the valet service throughout my stay. It was quick, prompt, and made things so much easier. The hotel itself is extremely clean and well-maintained. My room was spotless, quiet, and the bed was super comfortable—I slept so well each night. Housekeeping did a fantastic job every day, keeping everything fresh and tidy without ever being intrusive. Overall, the Portola Hotel provided a relaxing, hassle-free experience in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Monterey!
