This is an old motel that has been decently maintained; it is not a “hotel.” While very close to Old Town and other attractions, it’s not very walkable, as this is nestled into an industrial area that is fairly isolated from everything else. Walls and floors are super thin — I don’t like hearing neighbors’ discussions, nor do I want them hearing mine. This is a building issue, which is due to age — it isn’t going to change. We were in a “back” building away from the main road, and we ran the fan non-stop; otherwise, it would have been noisy all night between traffic, sirens, and plane noise from the airport. Light sleepers be wary. Breakfast is okay — no frills. No complaints. You shouldn’t be choosing a place to stay based on free breakfast, anyway. Television was a problem — the signal in our room sucked, making it almost impossible to watch anything between the image glitching and completely disappearing. They need to update their streaming offerings; having DVD players in each room is borderline amusing and sad. A clear, strong signal is all guests really need — time to have a serious chat with your provider, guys. It was a bit annoying that the room payment/room deposit couldn’t be on separate cards — while it’s only $100, it’s a pain to have that deposit tied up on a debit card waiting to be reversed, as opposed to simply putting that on a credit card and not worry about it. Time to update your folio system as well, gang. The staff was average.

Would stay again

First night we were a little concerned when the train horn was going off, but it didn’t go throughout the night so that was good although the second night it did go off at 3:15 AM The room was short toilet paper. Only one roll was in there didn’t like the fact that it didn’t have glasses. I would’ve had to ask for glasses for the kitchen. I didn’t wanna do that.

Our room had no shower curtain. The staff insane on our second day there. The room keys did not work. Staff told us the keys were “cheap” (their words). The did remagnitize them, but it was a hassle.

Very clean hotel and friendly staff. Kitchenette and pool seemed great even though we didn’t get the chance to use either of them. Only complaint is the parking. Parking spaces are limited and VERY NARROW. Otherwise, great and clean hotel.

Friendly staff, spacious rooms, great water pressure, VERY comfortable beds & pillows! Had SUCH great sleep all 4 days!! Quiet. The area is not the best, but the hotel is a nice establishment regardless of the surroundings. We had the kitchenette, came in handy with a stove top, sink and cupboards. Room had coffee pot, microwave, fridge and toiletries. Breakfast included hot waffles, cereal, oatmeal, and more. Fresh coffee in the lobby until 10pm. Heated pool and FREE parking. Air worked great. There are cottages available, one room. Didn't stay but was able to view, seemed smaller with less amenities than our double queen kitchenette. Laundry room, vending machines and ice available. Beautiful landscape. Would stay again. For those who like newer more modern places this would not be it. Those who like cozy, simple and reasonable you might want to try it!

Comfortable and clean inn

I was pleasantly surprised at basically every aspect of this property. The neighborhood is not the greatest (I was aware when booking, so it’s not like there was any bait and switch) but the property felt tucked away and quiet. I was also happy to be able to park directly in front of my door, motel style. All staff members that I interacted with were friendly and professional, my booking had zero issues, and everything was very quick from check in and check out. The building is a little older but I was happy with the updates made to the room. Tons of plugs, really nice shower with good water pressure and hot water, thoughtful providing amenities. The bed was comfortable, though I could have done with nicer pillows. A/C worked well. Plus, you could even get complimentary breakfast, plus a mini fridge in the room. I didn’t spend a ton of time in the room during the day but it was clean and comfortable for my needs.

The place could have been excellent if the front desk staff had hospitality training and the carpet kept clean. Both check in & check out experience was really bad. The check in lady left the room on the back door as I was getting in to check in. She came back and passed me ignoring as if she is in a hurry to do something. After rushing in to a room behind the check in desk, she came back to the front desk. She started at me with out saying a word; I handed her the email confirmation on my cell phone telling her that I am checking in. She gave me back my cell phone and asked me to tell her the last name. I did. She handed me the key and pointed the direction of the room. No greetings! No additional information! At check out, she was on the phone and continued for 6 minutes even though she noticed me holding keys to checkout. After she is done with phone, she took the key and “ you will receive you receipt from third party.” And turned back to her business. The room carpet is a kinda dark and hard to notice the dirt; however, when we checked my daughter’s white sleeper shoes turned to black in two days. She never left the room with these shoes

Located right across from Old Town San Diego. Easy access to main thoroughfares and food. Very quaint! Lots of flowers and it is mission style in architecture. Good complimentary breakfast too. Quiet places to sit - especially around the pool.

Charming Inn at an excellent price, especially the complimentary parking. In a commercial area but just a short 2 minute walk from San Diego Old Town. Pretty pool area. Good breakfast. The Inn is on a busy street so rooms near the street may be noisy.

The hotel itself is an oasis. Surrounded by an ugly industrial area, it is self-enclosed and beautifully landscaped -- a nice, old-fashioned kind of place. It is walking distance to Old Town on one side and to eateries and places like Sees Candies on the other. It's a short drive to Balboa Park, the Zoo, and Sea World. There can be road and railroad noise, and we thought the soap dispensers weren't working very well.
