Lovely, elegant, vintage, beautiful and cozy hotel! Only a 7 minute walk to the convention center/ocean walkway and at the center of many shops and restaurants. The hotel was very clean throughout my entire stay. Thank you to all the Housekeepers who ensured my room was spiffy clean every day and for Robert and the front desk staff for excellent service! Felt safe and had no problems throughout stay. Would definitely come back in the future.
Great spot close to restaurants. Salt and whiskey downstairs was fantastic!!!!!! The live music on Friday was such a vibe. The manager Fredrick Ivy was super sweet and helpful. The front desk staff (all of them) were always friendly and happy to help.
Amazing experience! Will be back!
This hotel is so romantic! I love the historic atmosphere and my room was surprisingly very quiet, facing the courtyard. I loved laying in bed with the balcony door open, it felt wonderful. Also appreciated the free water bottles and coupons for the restaurant.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Horton Grand. It is so convenient to everything in the Gaslamp District and more. It's a beautiful, Victorian hotel, and I loved the vibe. I will definitely return! Our kitchenette provisions were lacking. Coffee maker with pods but no creamer. Utensils that weren't very clean without bowls or plates, and no dish soap or way to clean them. A card saying that those items are available upon request is a good way to go. Loved the mini rooms with antiques as you go up the elevator with a window.
The manager and staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout my stay, making my travel experience truly enjoyable. The ambience and historical property was such a refreshing change from a regular hotel. It’s kid friendly and dog friendly which I love. The food and drinks at Salt and Whiskey was absolutely delicious! The virgin house drink if you don’t drink alcohol was yummy. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting.
Stay was great. We had a beautiful room and the bed was super comfortable. Had to ask the front desk for the mini fridge but it was there by the time we returned from our outing. Would def ask for a 4th floor room next time as the hotel is old/a landmark and you can hear everyone above you and the floors creak as people walk. Received 2 drink tickets upon check in which was great. Nice selection of beer and wine and a few cocktails to choose from.
There are NO OTHER hotels like this one. Victorian style with modern comfort and convenience, this property is a unique experience. We had the Premium suite with balcony and fireplace. At over 600sft it felt like having an apartement (my wife's comment). What a great stay!

Do not stay here.
This 100 plus year old hotel is an old dowager down on her luck and looks.
Think Nora Desmond in “Sunset Boulevard.”
Wow! The inner courtyard/atrium has to be seen to believe .
I love the quaint sense of oldness, with old pianos and organs decorating the halls.
There IS an elevator, but not any hot tob or pool.
The hotel is lovely. The courtyard is nice and open, great place to sit and read after all the walking in Gaslamp District. The gas fireplace was a nice touch!!
The property itself was beautiful. But most of the staff was a bit stiff. The Gaslamp district seems to have taken a turn for the worse. But I’ll be ba k

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
We love the Horton, usually stay there 5 or 6 times a year. They were a little off their game this weekend. The hotel room had a sewer order coming from the sink that got bad when you ran the water, but we got faint hints of it randomly during our stay. When we checked out we stood in front of the hotel for about 10 minutes waiting for valet, finally went inside and the guy working the front said he thought we were waiting for an Uber. Dude, we were standing right by the valley stand lol. Great hotel, we’ll be back again soon, just not their best effort this time.
