This hotel really ia dedicates to the art. Diverse original art makes every room different. Good location. Good price. My first stay at a no-front-desk hotel. It worked pretty well and help was available by phone. Poor choices on the TV.

The worst hotel experience of my life

Just a horrible stay. Room had a bad smell and was warm. I was unaware that there was a shared bathroom and shower. It was loud and uncomfortable. I only slept 2-3 hours the first night and decided to check out one night early. There is no way I would ever stay here again. In fact, I am so haunted by the experience, I will avoid walking on Bush Street between Grant and Kearny so that I never have to see this place again.

Good location/funky/no on site staff

There is rarely staff on site. Communications are done via text. Responses via text are quick, but it is somewhat problematic that no one is there in person. The storage closest for luggage is no larger than a phone booth, and was full when we needed it. Key expired at 11am on check out day, despite getting an extended check out until noon. The rooms don't have individual temperature control.

On the plus side, the hotel is well located. Close to restaurants, shopping, bars, etc. Literally across the street from Chinatown, which is fun. The Sutter Stockton parking garage is a half a block away, which was very convenient. On the negative side, the carpet in my room was dirty. I expected over-the-top decor based on the photos, but my room was like a college dorm room painted with fire engine red spray paint. The sink was not in the bathroom, was tiny, and there was nowhere to put anything while getting ready. My shower pan filled with two inches of water from a 4-5 minute shower. I mentioned this at the front desk and asked that it be fixed at about 8:30am of my second day. When I returned late that afternoon, I checked back and was told it had not yet been fixed. I pressed again and it was finally fixed by 5:30. Given the good things about the location, I was hoping that this would be an affordable solution for future SF trips. I will not be returning.

Good and bad

The electrocic/app key situation was problematic. When we tried to get it resolved, nothing came of it. There is no front desk person and the water took 10+ min to warm up in the shower one of the days. Rooms were super cute. The art was awesome and the bed was comfortable. The location was ideal and the downstairs bar was fun and friendly.

Cons: Terrible assistance by the front desk staff Unable to sleep due to noise in alleyway from 9pm -5am. Bring ear plugs! Pros: cute rooms, comfortable beds Excellent house keeping
