Family of five had very nice stay over New Years, despite the sad and incessant, even offensive, beggars and the terrible marijuana smell seemingly everywhere.
I wouldn't stay here again, it was too old and dark. The restaurant breakfast was very average. The upside was if was conveniently close to Union Square where all the main shops are located.
When you’re itching to get away fast, go for a no-brainer holiday. San Francisco is home to some of America’s most brilliant technological minds, but let’s be real—we’re here for the party. Known for its breezy waterfront vibes, international eats and one of the biggest Pride festivals in the world, “The City by the Bay” has a little somethin’ somethin’ for everyone, and we really mean everyone. Whether you want to spend your time sipping high tea or you’re ready to get in touch with your inner hippie, you’re in for a treat—and we’re not talking about Rice-A-Roni.
If you’re thinking, “I wanna get in on this” you’re not alone. One of the most massively populated cities in the United States, San Francisco is a pretty compact metropolis in Northern California, north of Silicon Valley big hitters like San Jose and Palo Alto. When you’re on the hunt for accommodation in San Francisco, you’ll find great places all over the city. Wanna dip down to warm SoCal? Book hotels in California’s other golden cities for the quintessential West Coast road trip.
No San Francisco adventure is complete without a walk across Golden Gate Bridge, treats in Sausalito and returning with a happy stomach. While you’re on the north side of town, chill out in Golden Gate Park, home to the San Francisco Botanical Garden and the unique scent of the local plant life. With a history of counter-culture and the addition of swanky boutiques, the Haight is all about the love. Speaking of the sun, climb to the top of Russian Hill for the best views of the sun setting over the bay, and watch as locals drive the eight hairpin turns down crooked Lombard Street. From there, head straight to the Castro District for a nightlife that won’t quit. If you crash in one of the hotels in San Francisco’s most flamboyant neighbourhood, don’t worry—the Castro is also home to top-notch bakeries and brunch spots. Ready to fly home with dark shades in place? Not before you eat some of San Francisco’s signature treats. Stop in the Mission District for a classic mission burrito or go fusion with a sushiritto—yes, the sushi burrito is a thing.

San Francisco is known for its cool weather year-round—not too hot, not too cold. Pack a jumper if you’re travelling October through February, just in case. Try to hit some of these annual events, if you have the chance: Dine About Town (January), San Francisco Pride (June) and San Francisco Jazz Festival (September-November).
