The Villa Rosa is an absolute GEM of a property. The location couldn’t be better (right on the beach), the decor and appurtenances are unique and beautiful, breakfast, wine happy hour, clean and comfortable rooms, pool, jacuzzi, and walking distance from everything “Santa Barbara”. This is a property you will travel to again and again. Staff are all outstanding, and Melody at the front desk is super helpful, knowledgeable and professional. This is a property with so much charm, you may never leave! We’ll be back again!

Avoid avoid avoid. Management is a joke. Her name is Melody. Avoid avoid avoid. She is confrontational. I have the right to not stay after showing up. They try to steal your pay for accommodations. This is more of a bed room in a zoo.

Cute unique, boutique hotel

Super cute unique boutique Hotel. A little bit it reminds me of staying at a miniature Hearst castle , With the way that is decorated and all the big cushy chairs when you check in. They have a Simple and delicious wine and cheese hour. And lots of little nooks and Crownies to sit around the pool with water fountains going. The room we got was pretty large and had a full-size refrigerator. I believe it was the king cottage. Really comfy bed And it had a full size fridge and little dishes for us to put out food in . We ordered pizza and got wine and Put it inside of the little wine goblets they had in the room. The check in was easy. The lady was very busy, but she let us know that we could have some wine and cheese and she would come get us as soon as she had a minute. Less than 10 minutes, but we were really enjoying ourselves.

The staff was extremely kind and helpful. We came to celebrate a landmark birthday and we were not disappointed. The room was very clean an spacious, heater and AC. The old school plumbing was a challenge but as a California native, its common for the older buildings; definitely didnt take away from the beauty or experience. Almost everythis is walking distance feom the room; Jeannine's was like a 5 minutes walk and the food was quick and yummy. Tons of food places within a 5-10 minute walk anywhere; very quaint and quiet, fabulous view of the mountains and ocean... i would definitely recommend this for either a quick qet away or for a honeymoon. The decor was very unique, cozy and lovely Spanish style floors.

There was no air conditioning and windows with no screens or didn't open. The property is not being kept up. Hot tub with broken tiles, pool was dirty There was no one at the front desk for an entire day, so when guests needed pool towels or to check out or any assistance there was no one to ask. The toiletries provided were very poor quality.

Rooms are very outdated, no AC in the rooms so it’s hard to sleep at night. The location is good but the price to stay here is not worth it since you can find somewhere else close by that is much more updated and way better service

This is a lovely, quaint property that is in an excellent location. It is one block from the beach, and one block from the pier (State Street). We did not need our vehicle the entire time we were there due to the walkability of the property. The rooms are large (which is nice because we brought bikes) with a kitchenette and separate bedroom. The rooms are dated but clean. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet. I only had two complaints of the room: the air conditioner did not work very well (and is was an unusually hot weekend). The AC is is in the living room so no air really makes it to the bedroom and the AC simply did not work well. Secondly, there are security lights all over the property (which is nice for safety), but they shine in the room and it's difficult to get the curtains to fully block it. Overall, this was a nice room and the location is so superb I would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable stay but charged property fee twice!

I booked a room at the last minute for a getaway with my 5 year old daughter. The hotel is in a good location in an aging building like a lot of Santa Barbara hotels. It is part of the SB charm. The bed was comfortable and spacious. The shower desperately needs updating. The sink was a cute glass leaf bowl but was slow to drain. Pool was cold. Hot tub was HOT! Breakfast consisted of pastries with waffle irons out as a nice touch. The disappointment came after check out. The total paid to Hotels.com included room rate, property fee, and tax. Unfortunately, 3 days after check out, I see a charge for an amount similar to the property tax plus tax directly from the hotel. I called the hotel to resolve the matter. At first, they said it is the property fee. I said I aready paid that through Hotels.com and the receptionist agreed. The manager is not on-site and was not reachable all Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend to resolve the matter. I am still waiting to hear back on a refund. This is not acceptable. On top of this, housekeeping did not clean our room during our 2 night stay even with our "Please Make Up Room" sign on the door by 10:30am.

Location was excellent, but all of the fees charged were confusing. $28.50 was charged for using a credit card to pay, which is somewhat excessive. The times for the afternoon reception were unpredictable. Also, be aware there is no air conditioning.

We had time consuming troubled check in which set a bad mood for my hungry family. The happy hour they offered at this time had some ritz crackers and cheese that helped some. Really bad wine which turned me off. Walking into unit the first thing we saw was a big dirty spot on the couch. The dirt passage way to get to alley for our car was a dumping zone of old funky decor no longer wanted. I had a great night sleep and woke up to a lovely soak in the hot tub and dip in the pool. They had burnt coffee with coffee mate, cookies, waffles, cereal for for breakfast spread. I loved the funky decor. My husband had trouble sleeping due to the loud neighbors at 1am. The property also does month to month rentals.

Dirty moldy rooms, fully of dust mites. Woke up covered in bites and a rash. Leaking fridge, water all over the floor. No staff available onsite to address the issues. Still No response via text or email from management. Its a cute place, but not worth the price or the headache. Breakfast offering barely edible, waffle iron was caked in burnt grease. Big mistake booking here.
