I love older hotels with character. My room was lrge and spacious. Great location with a walking trail and public transit. Lots of good restaurants close by, including the best ever: Grossmans! The pillows, however were awful and should be replaced.

High hopes for classic place to stay

Lovely restored vintage hotel. Neighborhood was noisy (maybe Cinco de Mayo celebrations?), especially after midnight, so it was hard to sleep with window open for fresh air. Bed was lumpy and couldn't get pillows "scrunched" right to be comfortable.

Comfortable and safe, needs upgrades.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. I felt safe and comfortable. I would likely stay again. I appreciate the nostalgic feel of the room but they should consider simple modern upgrades like a refrigerator, microwave and more accessible power on each side of the bed. The shower also did not drain well. My feet were completely covered with water shortly after starting a shower.

This is my second stay at the hotel. The hotel is situated in the older section of Santa Rosa, near the old railroad depot. The first time I stayed in the modern extension across the street from the historic Main hotel. This time I got to stay in the beautiful historic building. My room is comfortable and clean. The friendly atmosphere reminds me of staying at a bed and breakfast but even a little nicer. "Lexi" at the reception desk was super friendly, efficient at check-in and offered many restaurant recommendations. Many restaurants are in walking distance.

We live in the city and are urban people. We also enjoy older homes, so we greatly appreciated the location and quality of the buildings. The reception area is warm and inviting, and the Grossmans restaurant attached to this hotel was a big bonus, as we enjoyed a nice lunch with their spacious outdoor seating. The entire area has character and charm. (With that said, I think it's appropriate to note that it is next to a railroad station, so there is a bit of transience. This does not bother us, but the dynamic scene and some street noise may not be for everyone.) But: back to our room and experience. We really liked our room with the balcony overlooking the courtyard in the newer of the two buildings. Some may prefer to be in the original building but I didn't see the rooms there. Parking was very easy. Staff was helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
