I wouldn't normally visit a zoo (been there, done that). But staying at Taronga was an opportunity to do something different, and for a good cause too. The staff and volunteers were wonderful, and the buffet breakfast was great too. Tip: Best views (koalas) are from rooms in buildings 1, 2 and 3. Buildings 4 and 5 have the kangaroos outside, but they seem to 'hide' most of the day. Shops and restaurants on Military Road are an easy 30-45 minute walk away (or take the frequent buses). Balmoral Beach is about an hour's walk away and great for swimming.

They booked a loud concert on both of the nights I was there. There was no warning of this and it literally shook my room from 3 PM until 11 PM at night. I wanted a relaxing weekend viewing the animals and it turned out to be exactly the opposite. Shame on them!

This hotel was awesome! We booked an animal room and had three koalas living right outside our room the entire time! The views are amazing of Sydney! The zoo itself is also very nice and had a wide array of animals. I think this is a hidden gem and encourage anyone to highly consider it!

The entire experience was amazing! Easy check in with wonderful friendly staff, room was clean and faced right onto koala enclosure. Wheelchair accessible room was great for my husband who uses a manual wheelchair. Restaurant Me-Gal was amazing and views are priceless from restaurant and main reception/lounge area. Would highly recommend

The staff were excellent and the rooms were good. The accommodation included guided walks and breakfast. The drinks from the bar were pricey and the breakfast was not as good as a previous stay, with less fruit and toast spread options, bain-marie not that exciting and not particularly hot, not replacing items for guests that were having a later breakfast. The coffee was good. The breakfast chairs were worn and marked.
