Cheap Hotels in Union Square

The best place to stay in San Francisco! Love the vibe, staff, location and ambiance. Every place else in Union Square is a step down. Thank you for an unforgettable week!

I had a compact but adequate room with no view (just the smoking alleyway). The queen bed had rather over-plush pillows & mattress - not the best for anyone who prefers medium firm, but that’s quite personal. The toilet & shower were good but housekeeping needed a written note to remind them to refill the empty toiletry dispensers. Afterwards, the bath gel & shampoo smelt suspiciously similar! The property is clean but so called Brit inspired decor felt rather dated. The complimentary breakfast bar was nothing but self service watery coffee and cold pastries. Must be worse in colder months. Putting the baked goods into a warming case would be an easy fix. After the first day, I preferred to walk down to the many nice cafes closeby and pay for a real coffee & hot breakfast bagel instead. Location was convenient, being walkable to Union Square and many restaurants & shops in the neighborhood. Bus, tram and BART trains were all easily accessed. As a solo woman traveler, I managed my safety by not staying out too late. But this place essentially borders the infamous Tenderloin, so the many unhoused and shifty characters on the streets are rather unsettling. Big shout out to the multi lingual Mr Mohammed at Reception. He was so kind and attentive, and he extended small courtesies with the practiced hand of one experienced in the service industry. It was such a pleasure to interact with him and he made my stay so much more enjoyable. Thank you!

Wonderful place and location. Only downside is there’s no hotel garage for valet parking, but there is a self serve parking garage a street down, but in comparison to other hotels in this area this was the only downside we could see. The Redroom was wonderful!

We loved our stay here! Super funky and fun hotel and staff were very friendly and the vibe was just great. Our room was very comfortable and we slept great! Convenient location to walk downtown and in north beach

We were there for two nights. Excellent hotel. Squeaky clean, good location, friendly staff. We loved it. Will stay there only if we visit again.
