As we approached the Sofitel reception, the electricity went out. There were long lines of guests, and the staff appeared confused and unprepared. We moved to the restaurant area to check if power was available there, as we had not eaten for some time and needed dinner. Unfortunately, the bar was only serving drinks and no food. We waited for a couple of hours for the electricity to return so we could check in, but eventually, everyone was asked to leave because the backup generators were expected to fail. It was late, and with an early flight the next morning, we had no choice but to go to another terminal, book a different hotel, and stay there overnight. When I requested a refund for Sofitel—since we were unable to check in—I was informed that Sofitel refused the refund. This was a highly disappointing experience marked by poor customer service and complete disorganization at the hotel. Thankfully Expedia refunded us anyway.
