Couples night away

Hotel was clean and well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor pool and sauna/steam room facilities. Check in and out was straightforward. Grounds were lovely. We didn’t have dinner at the hotel but it is well situated and easy walking distance to the centre. Breakfast was disappointing as took over half an hour to come, was not very big (mushroom was only half a slice!) and toast had gone cold as was served when we sat down so had to ask some more. Staff were attentive and professional. Room was a good size and clean, bed was very comfortable, but no control over room temperature and the interconnecting door to the next room meant we could hear their telly and conversation. Overall a pleasant stay.

Lovely hotel

It is a lovely hotel with comfy beds and a spacious en suite. Friendly, helpful service. A short distance from the centre of Bath. This is easily walkable though a lovely park.

I’ve given 3* because of a few things. It’s extremely short staffed. The staff that are there though in the breakfast room and reception are very good trying to keep up. The rooms and the spa need a refurbishment. A little bit dirty, My mattress topper had a huge stain when I pulled the sheets back. The lounge areas, reception and outside space is beautiful and I love the grandeur. I’ve stayed here many times in the past, but it just feels like it lacks some sort of management. I understand it’s probably not affordable to refurbish the place but maybe room by room doing a paint job would help.

Poor and just tired

This was my third stay here and unfortunately it has got worse with every stay. We were shoved at the end of the main building in a room that was cold, smelt musty and just not comfortable. I complained and the staff were more than accommodating but the alternative rooms weren’t much better even the suite which was old and not as good quality. The whole place is a bit run down and in need of refurbishing. The bed was uncomfortable and it felt like it was dipping. It’s a shame as the hotel is ideally situated and a nice building.

Good location, poor experience

The location of the hotel and hotel itself were good but a few experiences during our stay lowered the rating. Firstly received a WhatsApp message directly from the hotel on the day of arrival saying check in was from 3. Arrived a 3 for check in to be told the room wasn't ready and the room would be ready until 3:30, I was told the hotel was busy thus causing the delay. Don't send a message the day before then saying 3. When we came back to check in at 3:30 the queue was 20 minutes long to check in. Not a good start. Room was a good size, but a big crack in the sink. Also opened the window but would close again. Spa facilities were good. Breakfast was ridiculous waited in a long queue. Eventually seated and then waited 45 minutes to be served a very average breakfast. Toast never arrived. Continental breakfast was very poor with no bread to go with cheese and meats. It was the same at every table. On check staff did not even ask how our stay was.

Lovely hotel which was well located within the town centre. My partner and I didn't get to use the facilities as much as we had hoped, but we still had a great time, and the spa facilities were the highlight for my partner!. The only downside for me was the size of the gym, which I had hoped would have been be bigger, as everything was crammed on top of each other. Luckily, I was able to use the gym at a quiet time, but I can imagine it would be difficult to move around during peak times.

We stayed over 2 nights. The hotel doesn’t look like 5 stars at all. The bathroom was dirty. Bath blocked with full of hair, Room very old, not nice smell. Waiting for our older one hour. I don’t recommend.
