Room was clean (although the daily housekeeping was pointless - just emptied the bins, cups and spoon was still dirty).
Very warm, quiet room. Some furnishings worn but bed and pillows very comfortable.
Building is unique but not a problem like mentioned in previous reviews.
I didn't have any cause to eat or go to the bar so can't comment on that. Check in and out very friendly and efficient. Travelled alone and felt safe, I would definitely stay again
My room was clean & tidy, with quality bed linen and fluffy towels in the bathroom.
In the bathroom the sanitary ware was fine, although the vertical rail that supported the detachable shower hose was detached at the top and needs refixing. Also the bath needs a rubber mat inside as there is nothing to stop guests slipping whilst showering. I slipped this morning but thankfully came to no harm.
There is a TESCO Express next door to the Apollo hotel and a Boots Optician branch however there are no other shops within easy walking distance (that I found).
The Apollo currently has only breakfast provision in-house but there is a great Chef & Brewer about a quarter of a mile down the Hagley Rd that my wife and I visited twice and thought was excellent.
There are other eateries but we only tried the Premier Inn restaurant (used to be a Beefeater) which was bland and soulless with a restricted menu. There were only two staff on duty, so perhaps the less said the better. The waitress assured me that there are plans to reestablish a full Beefeater on the site, but till that happens I would give that restaurant a miss.

Good value for money; excellent location for city centre and other facilities. The heating radiator in the bed room continued to become noisy after every hour or two, causing disturbed sleep; the staff said this is unusual and perhaps only in one bed room and reassured they will get it sorted out.

The rooms were nothing like in the advertised pictures. We booked a superior double room and the bed was too small. Sink in bathroom was loose. Room very tired. Breakfast ambience poor but cooked to order. Bob on reception in the evening was great though. Was worried about statement to park near reception due to potential car damage in other car parks and room security poor with no external locks to the block or security chains or deadlock on bedroom door. Felt like it was very run down.
Room were mentioned no smoking but still smell cigarette smoke in room, washing basin rusty
Property and reception area seems rundown and doesn’t appealing to stay
Good amount of parking and a nice Ironing setup in room itself to cater to business clients.
TV with free view channels and internet was decent speed.
Well mannered staff.
Food was average and there is a deposit to prevent people breaking hotel things.
Not part of any chain and a good hotel apartment.
Have a small Tesco shop near by where most of the things can be bought.
Last review I made about the Apollo, I didn't realise there was remedial work going on, which has now been rectified..I would visit this hotel again for it's location, it's privacy and within easy reach of the city.
