A well situated property. Parking at £18 per day was expensive when a resident. Breakfast was continental and not replenished regularly. Staff need more training. Needed to be asked to top up items on buffet and clear tables following each course. When ordering a full English breakfast the waiter delivered the food and payment was immediately requested. Not a good value at £12.50. Evening meal was exceptional with good service from our waiter.
Would visit again.
Looks nice from the outside, inside it definitely has 'Fawlty Towers' vibes. Be prepared to be woken up by guests slamming doors and walking up creaky stairs. Very handy for the Cambridge Half marathon though.

Average place but amazing location
Chose the hotel for location and car parking - brilliant access to Cambridge centre. Everything very dated in terms of decor and upkeep but service was good and staff friendly and helpful. Super continental breakfast included in room rate. Car parking £18 overnight until 11am next day. If you book direct with the hotel, car parking is free. We stayed in the Club King room in an annexe behind the hotel. Room was very well appointed, comfortable bed and tea/coffee making facilities but it was cold on arrival. However, reception provided a heater which was fine until the heating came on at 5.30pm. Overall, a tired hotel but good for an overnight stay within easy walking to centre of town.
Lovely and good value. I had a single room with en suite, both very small but adequate, and a lovely view over the river and park. Easy regular bus into centre of you don't want to walk.

Disappointed
We have stayed here before and been happy but we were in the main building. This time we found ourselves in the annex which was small and rather cramped. The room was poorly lit with only table lamps, no overhead light. Despite the booking being the same price and not mentioning the annex it's was no where near as nice as the main building.
We were shocked that they wanted to charge us £18.00 for overnight parking, as we hadn’t booked direct with them. At no time did I read this before I went
The (twin double) room on the third floor had a lovely view across the river and Jesus Green beyond. Decor in good condition but, as photos show, dated in style.
I stay in this hotel regularly and I am always fully satisfied. The staff are very helpful and polite. There are only two specific pieces of feedback that I would like to provide (and I often provide these to other hotels). (1) I would be much happier if a bottle of water was supplied in the room for each night of the stay. (2) In my view, showers should always be fitted with a soap tray, for the benefit of guests who use their own soap and shampoo.
Everything was easy and converted for a stay in Cambridge. The onsite parking is expensive if you've not booked direct.
Was very quiet in January!

Yes it’s slightly shabby but a beautiful location across from the park and walkable to downtown. Comfortable spacious room. Would definitely stay here again.
It was a bad experience to spend New Year's Eve in Cambridge, the room specifications were not clear on the website, I chose a room with a private bathroom but I was surprised that there was no shower, the heating was not working and the room was very cold. I asked the reception to turn it on and the employee told me that it turns on automatically at 5 pm every day. I told her the room is cold, how can I wait two hours in this extreme cold? When I went down and asked the manager to turn it on, it is not a good way with the guests and exploiting the room specifications on the simplest rights of the guest. I asked to change the room and they refused on the pretext that I used it and I did not use anything, and it had been an hour since I entered. I advise the hotel owner to change his policy. Not providing something simple in the bathroom such as a shower may lose many customers. The business mentality must change, develop and keep pace with the challenges of the market.
