I usually love a moxy, the staff are always 10/10, and make you feel like no task is too much trouble, which makes it feel so special.
However, our experience at Moxy Excel was the worst night I've ever had. Our room was 23 degrees when we arrived, so we opened the window at 6pm, however, by 11pm it had gone up to 23.5. The heating was off completely, and moxy switch off the aircon so you can't even choose to use it.
This is way too hot for sleeping, ideal sleeping temp is 19 degrees.
The fans they gave us weren't really fans, but instead heaters that lightly blow air.
At 2am, after no sleep, I went to the reception to ask if there was anything they could do, and they then found us a proper fan. However, it didn't make much of a difference, and I got only 45 minutes of sleep the night before a big race.
The room was still 23.5 degrees at 10am in the morning even with the fan on and the window open.
The hottest most uncomfortable night, which really affected my race the next day.
They did kindly give us a second duvet, which helped the second night as it stopped us waking each other up from tossing and turning as much.
Think I will steer clear of moxy moving forward if they don't allow air con.
