I had money stolen from me by the hotel staff, which took a 50 pound (UK) deposit at check-in as cash that they did not return when I checked out. This was the first time I have used Expedia to book a hotel where the property required that I provide a cash deposit.
Since I wound up extending my stay, I did not realize until after I had left that they did not provide this money back when I left. I am not sure if this is a common practice of the hotel, but the net was that I lost the money. I strongly suggest that this hotel be blocked by Expedia in the future.
Whether this was a scam by the hotel or simply an oversight the impact for me was the same -- I lost the money.
It was also the first time I stayed in a hotel where the air conditioning did not work and I was provided with a fan to stay cool. The hotel promised that this would be fixed after the first night but they never did. And frankly I got used to having the fan blowing on me so I did not complain.
In the end this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had through Expedia. It also me cautious about Best Western hotels in the future. Between the air conditioning mess and the stolen deposit, there is something wrong with this location in Putney.
And while I fully expect that I will never see this money back, I am hoping that this experience is used by the leadership of Expedia to make some changes in who they allow to be listed on their site.
It was in a great location for what I was doing in London.

Friendly staff, however room was tired, wardrobe falling off, air conditioning and extractor didn’t work. Bed very firm but larger than a double which was a plus. Bathroom fitted out nicely although no glasses for water. Continental breakfast was very basic and not worth the extra we paid.

Cheap and cheerful. Breakfast is terrible, aircon wasn’t working. At least price was low!
There was nobody at reception and we had to phone for someone to check in and check out. Anyone could just walk in and wander around the hotel corridors.
The room was large but had an addition single bed (not requested) which made it very difficult to get into the double bed on one side
The room was also cold and although there was a heater it did not work, and the wall thermostat did nothing.
The breakfast was very basic and poor, with dry bread and dry muffins, etc. The juice tasted off.
I was not impressed that we had to pay a £50.00 deposit for damages, which I’ve never had to do before.

I don’t often leave reviews but this was not a great stay. Nice that it had a balcony but the door to it was looked and so badly distorted that it didn’t close properly( I could place my fingers in the gap between the door and the top of the frame) and given it overlooks the rail line, didn’t make for a great sleep.
Water all over the bathroom floor so I had to use one of the towels to clear it up. The headboard looked like someone had punched through it and I had probably the saddest breakfast I’ve ever experienced, really not a very good selection and the cheese and ham looked as if it had been left out for several days. After being asked straight after breakfast if I was checking out, no real problem here as I assume the cleaners want to get in and on with their job, but it was only 9am and checkout is 11am - they then called me in my room at 9:40 to ask if I was checking out! Not a completely terrible stay but think I’ll look for somewhere different if I have to stay down that way again.
The room was fine, the bed was very comfortable but the breakfast was very poor.( dried up cheese squares, plastic looking ham, white bread only for toast, a tray of hard boiled eggs) One of the worst we have had at any hotel. The shower head leaked but I receptionist made a note of my complaint.

Location is great - next to lots of cafes, shopping and Train Station close.
Downsides - Quite noisy. Breakfast didnt exist but nice cafe 30m away - so used this instead.
Hotel looked dated. Bit dodgy having a picture of the room over looking the Thames, when the hotel is in the centre of Putney & nowhere near the Thames Unhappy at the ‘surprise’ £50 deposit I had to pay upon arrival, even though I had pre paid for the whole trip in the first instance.
Yes, this maybe in the T’s & C’s but come on no one is reading all of that.
It needs mentioning at the point of booking.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful and accommodating when alerted to problems. Rooms vary tremendously. First room I was assigned to was tiny and dark, with only one narrow window in a corner, and a walk-in shower that did not drain properly leaving the entire bathroom floor soaked. Proprietor offered to move me to a new room, which was much bigger and brighter and functioned better. Yay! Sheets and towels were clean and beds and pillows were comfy. But… carpets were stained beyond cleaning and need to be replaced. Bathroom amenities were sparse. No hair dryer — outlets note they are for shavers only. Overall, hotel was serviceable and a decent budget option. But not likely to stay there again.

Good use of space to have nice rooms but not the usual hotel experience, more of a serviced room. Comfortable big bed and nice bathroom. Road noise can be a problem
