This hotel was unfortunately mis represented with the photos on Hotels.com and they hotel told me that the photos of the modern rooms, they had like 2. I wanted to support a local business rather than a chain or hoped to. At first glance really nice. The bar area was good too. We had rooms on the 2nd floor approx £100 each for the night. Upon arriving to the room I was disappointed, it had a lot of space but the carpets were minging, it was dated and needs a good freshen up. Nothing to do with it being period building or old. It just looked and felt dirty. The breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. But get the marketing updated to reflect the actual rooms you will be staying in. Was not good value for money and I should have in hindsight booked with a chain. Told the hotel the next day and didn't get an overly positive reply. Only if we had told then when we arrived, we were in a rush and had to get changed, out of the building to an event so we didn't have time to look at switching rooms etc.
Hotel very tired. The bedroom floors were very creaky and woke us up, not just our room but all the floors were the same. The window in our room had a cracked window pane. Which i reported. We won't stay here again.
Booked a standard double room for 3 nights. Bed was tiny! Definitely not a double bed. The pair of us slept terribly each night. Toilet didn’t flush properly and kept filling up. Housekeeping must’ve seen this but ignored it. Very disappointing. I did report it myself. Saturday night was very noisy with inconsiderate people shouting on the corridors and letting doors slam. Won’t stay here again although it was convenient for the train station next door. Reception staff were very nice & friendly.
I wanted to stay a extra day and zoe the reception supervisor was very helpful in helping me to achieve this with no problems i would highly recommend this hotel right next door to the train station and a few minutes to city center and also i found all staff to be helpful and friendly cant wait to visit again hopefully in july

It’s okay, but could could be a lot better
The hotel is in great location and very central. However the room I was in (105) was very noisy with car park behind and club downstairs open until 4am! The room was equipped well although there were hairs on the pillows and the bathroom could be cleaner. There was no air con / cooling system so very warm and stuffy as no windows to open. Overall a 3 due to the averages of the rooms vs what you pay.
Hotel its self was absolutely beautiful. But the sound was absolutely awful. All you heard was doors slamming people talking very loud in the hall/corridors . Loud music coulfnt get a sleep and was up early for a very esrly train back home. So for that reason i need to rste my stsy as poor
Less the one minute from the station and 5 from my destination, but I didn't hear the trains or the drunk football fans. The breakfast was very nice.
The bathroom smelled, the shower was luke warm, the toilet seat did not stay up, the wardrobe was not tall enough for my clothes (because of the safe) and there was litter left by a previous occupant on the floor.
