This was almost the perfect hotel, great location, minutes from the city centre but far enough away to not hear the noise, really nice hotel, the room was nice, but there was one thing that nearly ruined it. Under the bed there are motion detection lights, every time my mate moved during the night, he was in a bed next to mine, it picked up on his moments and activated in turn lighting up the whole room, it woke me up so many times I barely got any sleep and was more tired come the morning than when I was going to bed. Had it not been for the breakfast being decent this review would have been worded completely different, those motion sensor lights are such a poor design choice.

Very nice hotel. Amazing. Quirky and welcoming. Breakfast was overpriced if I went to a greasy spoon cafe, which I did was more of a choice and a lot cheaper. Over all o had a great stay in York

Staff were friendly. Good location for town. We did get toilet rolls etc but room wasn’t made to each day - would have been nice if that had happened. That said it was a good hotel and I would stay again

A decent hotel overall, though I was surprised there was no fridge or bottled water provided in the room given the price. They do offer water downstairs at the bar, but none is available in the room.

We stayed for three nights in December. Great central location. Housekeeping poor they didn’t make the bed once for the whole stay. Also give the evening bar food a miss it’s very average.

Clean room and hotel. Comfortable bed. Great atmosphere. Just next time I would ask a room at the back. We were right above the entrance and as I usually sleep with the window open people smoking or talking late night or early morning at the entrance would ‘forget’ people were sleeping above.

The lack of option to control the heating made the temperature unbearable. We barely slept in the 2 nights we stayed. Hot air was pumping out all night with no option to turn it down. We opened the window but it could only be opened a small amount and we were then kept up by the noise outside. It also did very little to reduce the room temperature.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean but small. But this was fine for us as we were out most of the time. Tea and coffee in room. Ideal spot as only a few minutes walk to the Shambles and Christmas Markets, plus the Q parking was a two min walk! Enough choice for breakfast. Plenty of seating. Def would stay here again when coming to York.
