We booked this room after our flights were delayed two days due to weather and wanted to stay in this area. Due to a large amount of people get stuck on the island, we thought we were lucky to find this location. Unfortunately not. It took us over an hour to check in because the first room was going to be sprayed for bugs the next morning and the second room had people still in it (thank goodness we didn’t walk in on the people). When asking to speak with management, took 15 minutes for the front desk worker to come back without a manager. The food was mediocre and service at the restaurant was horrible. We had to ask to order, ask for him to get our drink order and ask for dessert. Dropped the check and never came back. Then, when we get home, the hotel charged us for breakfast, which was included in our rate and double charged us for the room. When I attempted to contact the property to speak with billing, no one would return my call. I had to call Expedia and have them call with me and all of a sudden, email was sent the next morning with my refund in process. I asked for a call back from the manager to provide this information and explain what happened and never received a call. Would not recommend at all since there are other places in the area with newer and nicer amenities and better customer service.

We loved the entire experience. The resort is beautiful and staff is friendly. The beach is steps outside of the hotel and we loved that you could rent an umbrella and chairs for the day. Definitely planning on coming back!

Upon arrival into our hotel room I noticed there was bugs on the lamp and also noticed I did not get the ocean view room type I booked. I called and let them know about the bugs as well as the room type. They said they’d change rooms if they had one available due to limited inventory, thankfully they did so they moved us up to the 12th floor which was bug free but stains on the carpet. The carpet felt icky to walk on. The room type on here was listed as ocean view but the hotel said that I am indeed in the room type I have booked. I felt a little lied too since the rooms view was nothing but land and bungalows. Only upon walking into the balcony and looking to the left was the ocean. Service: Service was a miss most of the time. - receptionist didn’t seem like they wanted to be there (except for the one that checked me in, she was sweet). - resort restaurant was asked if we can order food to go to eat by the pool and they said a pool attendant will take out order. I did not see a single person out there taking orders. - We had to check out super early around 5 AM and get our car from valet. When we came downstairs there was no one in the lobby at all. We called the resort from my phone and no answer. We rang the bell at the front desk and it took a while for anyone to come out. Service was almost non existent that early in the morning. I personally wouldn’t stay at this resort again.

Great place to resort. Small things... like one of the pools was so murky you couldn't even see the bottom... and some of my family had issues with their bungalow. I stayed up in the tower and had no problems with my room.

Some of the front desk staff where not very friendly. There’s a lot of birds harassing you for food at the restaurant. The room I stayed did not have a desk and at the end it ended up having a termites infestation, so they had to put me in another room anyways.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Royal Lahaina Resort, but there were a few disappointments. Our Expedia VIP status wasn’t acknowledged, so we didn’t receive the room upgrade perk we were hoping for, that was a bit of a bummer. That said, we loved the perks we did receive through Expedia! We got $75 in spending credit, which we enjoyed every day at the hotel’s ice cream shop and during our morning coffee runs. Our stay also included the daily hotel breakfast buffet and two tickets to the Myths of Maui Luau, which made our trip even more memorable. Thank you, Expedia, for making our stay special despite a few minor hiccups!

Mixed Experience – Beautiful Location, But Disappointing Service and rooms The hotel’s location is undeniably stunning. The beach is just steps away and impeccably clean, and the surrounding scenery is absolutely gorgeous—perfect for relaxing or snapping a few memorable photos. The pools were kept at a very pleasant temperature, making them ideal for both daytime lounging and evening dips. One of the highlights was the live music every evening from 6 to 9 PM. It added a lovely atmosphere to our stay, and the performer on Monday nights was especially talented. Unfortunately, the experience inside the hotel didn’t match the beauty outside. We had booked an ocean view room, but were given only a partial view. When we raised the issue, we were told that “full ocean view” actually meant “ocean front,” and that we could switch rooms for an additional $100 plus fee—which felt misleading and unfair. The staff were generally unwelcoming and unresponsive. Our room was not clean upon arrival—there were items left on the floor, stains on the counter, and an overall lack of attention to detail. We requested cleaning service, but no one ever showed up. Despite clear signage prohibiting smoking, guests were openly smoking cigarettes and e-cigarettes by the pool, which made the environment less enjoyable. The hotel itself felt quite dated. Carpets smell and are stained. The bathroom and shower lacked basic amenities like towel hooks or hangers, lighting was not enough. Sheets wear thorn.

Great getaway! We were able to relax and not be consumed by the crowds. The staff was friendly and helpful and there was plenty to do at the resort and the food was ok. Def recommend venturing to Whaler’s for more options and things to do.
