We stayed 5 nights at the New York LaGuardia Airport Marriott, and this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. On our third night, we noticed the water in the bathtub was turning brown. Maintenance came around 9 p.m., confirmed the water was dirty, and moved us to another room — but that one only had a shower instead of a tub, which wasn’t what we booked. After complaining again, they gave us a third room with a tub, but the same issue happened — brown water.
When I asked the manager what they’d do about the inconvenience, he hesitated and finally said, “I can give you one breakfast for your family, is that cool?” I accepted, but it felt like I had to ask instead of them taking initiative.
The next morning we contacted Hotels.com, who issued a small credit but said Marriott refused to do anything further since they’d already given a free breakfast. We stayed but stopped using the tub entirely.
We took photos of the brown water and towels we left in the tub as proof. For a hotel under the Marriott brand, this was extremely disappointing. Between the dirty water, multiple room changes, and lack of accountability from management, I can’t recommend this property to anyone.
