Satisfactory Stay

The Hotel was fine as was our room but the location was too far from Waikīkī. It was about a 3k walk to the Ala Moana Centre or $3 a local bus ride to Waikīkī. Great pastry and coffee shop near by the Hotel.

This was the second time we stayed here. The staff was awesome and room very comfortable. I liked being downtown, with access to bus lines and plenty of restaurants.

The room was above our expectation. The only problem during the day we trued to take a nap, but there was some kind of construction above our u it that was very noisy. Other than that unfortunate incident, the stay was perfect.

We were awakened to total darkness and a women's recorded voice ordering us to go to the stairs immediately due to a fire alarm somewhere in the building. We were further warned not to use the elevator. This happened at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 20. Groping in the darkness we dressed cuickly, located our phones, and wallets/purses and headed to the nearest unlit EXIT. We are both in our 70s and going down 24 flights of stairs with only the light provided by our cell phones was quite anxiety producing. Phone power drained. Many families, couples, and single people passed us as we struggled to get to the main floor. Outside we waited in vain for someone to come out and tell us what was going on. After 30-minutes we went to the nearest McDonalds and had a breakfast meal. The map supplied by Executive Suites came in handy. When after breakfast we realized no one was going in we just went about our day: finding a church service to attend, taking a long walk through China town, and taking in a movie at the Dole Regency. We walked 10,000 + steps that day plus the 24 floors. What a trek! When we let the Front Desk know about our traumatic, exhausting, and busy day they offered to reimburse us $100 on our room. That was a nice gesture, but in all transparency I did not sleep well that night. Every sound woke me up. I was hypervigilant. I've learned I never, never will stay in a room that is more than five floors from the main lobby. Too scared to risk that again!

The area is very close to China town. They have lots of great good and things to do in the area. Not far from the mall and there are some good fishing spots in the area.

Surprisingly awful experience this trip

There was a party going on until late in the night two doors down. It took security or whoever over an hour to finally shut them up after midnight. Hallway had smashed food and smelled like beer and urine. Someone pulled the fire alarm at 530, alarm finally turn off at 630 when the power went out in building. Took them 3 hours to get the backup generators working so there was no water, electricity or elevator from 630 until 930. Having a room next to the fire exit, I could hear all the angry people going up and down the stairs complaining. Phone didn't work so I texted them at the number they texted me to ask if there was an ETA for water or electricity, I was ignored until the backup power and water came on 3 hours later. I usually enjoy the convenience of this hotel but this particular trip was a disaster and there was no explanation or apology given for why it took 3 hours to power up the backup generators.
